Former TSMC Vice President of Procurement Li Wenru quits NVIDIA and is rumored to take up this key position tomorrow
Li Wenru, former deputy general manager of material management at TSMC, resigned in mid-July due to personal reasons. There are rumors in the industry that she will move to the general manager of NVIDIA Taiwan. According to market news, Li Wenru has indeed switched jobs at NVIDIA. Tomorrow, she is expected to take up the position of vice president of NVIDIA's enterprise-level WWFO department and be in charge of Taiwan sales business.
Recently, after NVIDIA Taiwan General Manager Qiu Limeng retired at the end of June, the vacancy has not yet been determined who will take over, and the industry has also begun to think about Li Wenru's movements. But according to the latest news, she is expected to take up the post of vice president of NVIDIA WWFO and take charge of the Taiwan sales business within this week.
Li Wenru is a sixth-grade student. He joined TSMC in 2022 as the senior director of materials management. In August 2024, he was quickly promoted to deputy general manager of materials management. He is one of the youngest vice presidents at TSMC. He is a highly regarded star of tomorrow. Li Wenru's management style is known as "American" and "strict", and his achievements and performance are recognized by senior management. However, less than a year after taking office, news came out at the beginning of the year that Li Wenru was taking a long leave. Now it is confirmed that Li Wenru's long break has turned into resignation.
Before joining TSMC, Li Wenru successively held procurement supervisor positions in well-known international companies such as Google, Apple, and Qualcomm. He has rich procurement supervisor experience in the technology industry.
According to TSMC’s announcement on July 14, 33 new shares with restricted employee rights (Restricted Stock Units, RSU) were withdrawn. The stock issuance date is September 1, 2024. The reason for withdrawal is “employees have not met the vested conditions.” Since the announcement date coincides with the time when Li Wenru was promoted to vice president and resigned, the outside world speculates that Li Wenru’s shares were withdrawn before his term of office was less than one year.
After Li Wenru resigned from TSMC, Huang Yuanguo, senior director of TSMC, took over the job. Huang Yuanguo is not only a "Mesozoic Supervisor" trained by TSMC, but the industry also regards TSMC as a "star of tomorrow". He has played an important role in promoting TSMC's advanced manufacturing processes. In mid-2024, Huang Yuanguo, director of the Taiwan Semiconductor Technology Forum, took the stage to explain the status of production capacity construction. He served as the senior director of Nanke's 18B factory and 3 nanometer factory, responsible for the management of key production bases, and was later assigned as the senior director in charge of quality and reliability, demonstrating his multi-faceted management capabilities.
