Sky: Manchester City actually spends £13 million to sign back to Trafford, players have been approved for medical examination

According to Sky Sports, the deal for Manchester City to sign James Trafford from Burnley is expected to be completed soon.

Previously, Newcastle's introduction of the goalkeeper had already negotiated the transfer fee, but Manchester City triggered the matching clause in the Trafford contract in the past 24 hours, which left Newcastle powerless. Manchester City will sign James Trafford back for £27 million, and in 2023 they sold the player to Burnley, the transfer fee was £14 million, meaning the deal to sign back for the player actually costs £13 million.

The transfer fee reached between Manchester City and Burnley was £31 million, plus additional terms, but the actual transfer fee was reduced as Manchester City added a second transfer share clause to Trafford's contract. Trafford has agreed to the five-year contract given by Manchester City, plus a one-year renewal option, and he will compete with Ederson for the main position.

In addition, Trafford has been approved for a medical examination. Ortega is expected to leave Manchester City, but it is unclear and Burnley has been interested in the player. It is understood that Manchester City are happy to see an effective buyback program play a key role, and they may feel that it is becoming increasingly important to join such a program when selling players.
