Bellada: Amorin takes office in advance and is beneficial to understanding the team. This is similar to Guardiola s first season

Manchester United CEO Berrada was interviewed by United We Stand, the first time Berrada has been interviewed since taking over Manchester United in July last year. The magazine editor Andy Mitten streamlined the 70-minute conversation with Bellada and posted a summary at The Athletic.

When talking about why he supports Amorin, Berrada said that Amorin suffered difficulties but was beneficial in taking office early, which was similar to Guardiola's first season in coaching Manchester City.

Berada elaborated on the considerations behind the introduction of Amorin last November, and this decision was "led by the technical team and therefore did not belong to my professional field."

Berrada admits that appointing a head coach in the middle of the season "may make the team's performance even harder. We see this as an investment in the next few seasons, as we will give Amorin time to understand the team, the club and the Premier League.

" So, by now (referring to June 2025), we have completed all the discussions on 'what the team needs' and 'how to build a roster capable of winning the Premier League through a 2-3-year plan.'

"We have a very clear roadmap for how to achieve our goals. If Amorin only started working on July 1, 2025, we wouldn't have accumulated all of this perception, right? And that's what I feel like is the value he has brought to take office in the past seven or eight months. He has experienced difficulties in the Premier League and the team has experienced difficulties. That's why I think this will really help our future."

Asked if this was similar to what Guardiola was doing at the time, Berrada replied:

"There are indeed great similarities. Guardiola adhered to his philosophy and he had great confidence in his past honors. The club allowed him to adjust with the first season below his usual level. That summer the club supported him, and the team started winning and started a winning cycle that continued into this season."
