Why is the puppy frothing at the mouth and convulsing? Come and take a look!

During the process of raising a dog, the most fearful thing is that the dog will get sick. If we can detect it in advance and treat it in time, many problems can be avoided. Today, the editor will tell you what happened when the puppy was frothing at the mouth and convulsing.

1. Poisoning

If a puppy accidentally eats expired moldy food, neurotoxic rat poison, organophosphorus pesticides and other toxic substances, it will develop symptoms such as foaming at the mouth, convulsions, diarrhea, and listlessness. If it is found that the puppy has recently eaten some abnormal food, it is most likely caused by poisoning. Since the dog has already shown symptoms of convulsions, it is not recommended to induce vomiting and needs to go to the pet hospital for treatment as soon as possible.

Note: When feeding dogs, toxic substances such as rat poison and pesticides need to be placed out of the reach of puppies to prevent them from accidentally eating them and being poisoned.

2. Canine distemper

Canine distemper is a canine infectious disease with a very high incidence rate. It is most common in puppies between 3 and 6 months old. It mainly damages the respiratory and digestive systems of dogs. In the later stages, it will damage the nervous system and cause neurological symptoms, including foaming at the mouth, convulsions, moaning, drooling, etc.

In this case, the dog can be given neurosuppressants for conditioning to see if the symptoms are significantly improved, and the dog's nutrition should also be strengthened. Generally, dogs with neurological symptoms of canine distemper may still have sequelae of neurological symptoms after treatment and recovery, and need to take oral neurological inhibitors on time.

3. Epilepsy

If the dog has convulsions but gets better after a period of time, it may be epilepsy. Due to abnormal discharge of midbrain neurons, convulsions and foaming at the mouth will occur. At this time, the dog's tongue needs to be taken out of the mouth immediately to prevent it from being bitten, and then sent to the pet hospital for treatment immediately. However, epilepsy cannot be cured and can only be improved through medication.
