Telegraph: If Drapp is signed, Chelsea hopes he plays the Club World Cup instead of the European Youth League
According to the Daily Telegraph, Chelsea hopes Drapp will participate in the Club World Cup instead of the European Youth Championship that will start on June 11.
Chelsea is about to activate Drapp's 30 million termination clause to sign the Ipswich striker. He was selected for the England team's U21 European Championships and he is also eager to represent England. England will play against Czech Republic, Slovenia and Germany in the group stage. But Chelsea sources expect that if Drapp joins Chelsea, the club will ask the striker to participate in the New World Cup, which will begin on June 14.
Previously, when the FA asked Rico Lewis and McCarty to participate in the European Youth Championship, Guardiola questioned who would pay the players' salaries. Neither of them was included in the initial European Youth Championship preparation list. McCarty has been recruited into the England team, but the two sides have not reached an agreement on Lewis.
