A person who was changed by a cat: a serious prisoner becomes a shoveler

For normal people, it is difficult to associate the two things of educating criminals who are serving sentences and managing stray cats rampant on the streets. In fact, they also met because of an experiment. Unexpectedly, the two actually had a wonderful "chemical reaction". The prisoner who "did not change after repeated teaching" was caught by the stray cat and willingly turned into a "tee shoveler". What's going on?

An animal protection organization in Indiana, USA, cooperated with a local prison to make a bold attempt: put stray cats that no one wants to adopt and let serious prisoners take care of them. The result was unexpected gains.

After the cat came to prison, these fiercely tempered prisoners all let go of their conflicts. In order to make toys for the kitten, the two people who had originally had a rift would work together. Moreover, these muscle-filled "flower-armed men" even learned to knit sweaters to make clothes for the kitten. Their serious and gentle look when taking care of the kitten made the prison guard feel unbelievable. Before the experiment began, neither the prison guards nor the staff of the animal protection organization had any expectations for this matter. Kittens sent to prison are either on the street for a long time or are often beaten. When they think they are dangerous, they will attack humans without hesitation. Because they are too aggressive, no one is willing to adopt them. Over time, the adoption agency can only euthanize them. The prison is basically all serious prisoners. Even if they are in prison, these people often have conflicts, and their tempers that have not changed after repeated teachings have caused a headache for the prison guards.

In the early stage of the experiment, the prisoners selected to take care of cats were all people who performed well and were disciplined in normal times. Staff from the animal protection organization also specially trained these people before they "taken to work". The main job of these prisoners is to take care of the cats' daily life and occasionally take a bath.

At first, prisoners were not "cold" about cats, but as more and more people joined the ranks of "tee shovelers", taking care of kittens has gradually become the most popular "job" in prison. In order to get the opportunity to take care of kittens, these arrogant and domineering men have become more and more well-behaved, and the discipline and hygiene level of prisons have also become better and better. In this regard, staff from the Animal Protection Organization said: Caring for kittens has taught them what responsibility is and taught them to solve problems in a non-violent way.

Under the prisoners' care, these originally aggressive kittens became more and more clingy. After they were not aggressive, these kittens were more likely to be adopted, and they also escaped the fate of being euthanized. Judging from the results, this experiment achieved great success.

At present, many prisons in the United States have implemented a plan to adopt stray cats, some prisons have adopted stray dogs, and some prisons also stipulate that prisoners can take their own dogs or cats home after they are released from prison. According to the survey results, the proportion of prisoners who brought their pets home to prison again and commit crimes is far lower than that of other prisoners.

Judging from the results of this experiment, this experiment was very successful, not only allowing the prisoners to save stray cats, but also allowing the stray cats to heal the hearts of these prisoners.
